Case of the Week 53

Shown is an iron-hematoxylin stain of a concentrated fecal preparation. What are the organisms shown and what is the significance of finding them?

I'll stick my neck on the line and go for Iodamoeba buetschlii cysyt. The cyst is uninucleate with a large karyosome. There is also a large glycogen mass. The significance is that the cyst is at its infective stage. -- Chris H

I think it's entameba histolytica and the significance it that this pt needs tx so that he doesn't develop brain abscesses, etc.
