Case of the Week 66

The following object was noted on gross stool examination. Shown here is the mounted object at 100x, Carmine stain. It measures about 1 mm across and several mm in length, although it does not appear that the whole length is represented here. Identification? (Bonus: list the genus AND species)

Looks like a scolex of Echinococcus..... err granulomus maybe??

Though I always thought the human was a deadend host..... surely these buggers will be found in canine stool?

I would go with Echinococcus too and probably E.granulosus, only because it has a large range. BW from VT
