Case of the Week 82

The following thin Giemsa-stained blood smear is from a missionary who just returned from Tanzania. (CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE)

What are the identifying features of this case?

Plasmodium falciparum in what seems to be an 'acolé' ring form - ie hugging the membrane of the RBC.

Mourner's clefts are also visable (just!).... both of these are indicative of Pf and not the other species.
