Case of the Week 201

The following was seen in a centrifuged urine specimen from an adopted child from Malawi. She had also been recently diagnosed with hepatitis C infection.

Agree, schistosoma hematobium. The spine that points downwards reminds you that it's pointing towards the bladder.

Lake Malawi is one of those famous sites to get S. hematobium for travelers or nationals. And, yup, that's the egg!
