Size wise, these two amoebas are quite similar. Structurally, both do not have a peripheral chromatin, and this further complicates the differential diagnosis.
In the last picture, the cyst has a somewhat polygonal endocyst and does not appear to have a wrinkled outer wall characteristic of Balamuthia mandrillaris.
My best guess therefore is Acanthamoeba though it has been said many times "errare humanum est".

Florida FanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-34788877401921044222015-07-06T16:31:28.834-05:002015-07-06T16:31:28.834-05:00Agree with Balamuthia or AcanthamoebaAgree with Balamuthia or AcanthamoebaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-88176549330917881282015-07-06T14:24:50.207-05:002015-07-06T14:24:50.207-05:00The initial "Anonymous" sez--I see--gran...The initial "Anonymous" sez--I see--granulomatous amoebic encephalitis would be more likely in the immunocompromised host...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-6494436456367740022015-07-06T14:03:31.639-05:002015-07-06T14:03:31.639-05:00I favor Balamuthia mandrillis or Acanthamoeba spp....I favor Balamuthia mandrillis or Acanthamoeba spp. causing "granulomatous amoebic encephalitis". The structures in the last image have refractory and round outer coats, making them look a lot like cysts. I wouldn't expect to see cysts in tissue if this was a case of Naeglaria fowleri, the cause of "primary amoebic encephalitis".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-79589356708589419072015-07-06T13:11:48.234-05:002015-07-06T13:11:48.234-05:00N. fowleri.N. fowleri.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-31863337569953977092015-07-06T12:50:44.422-05:002015-07-06T12:50:44.422-05:00Naegleria fowleri.
