We also need to keep in mind that we are looking at a three dimensional organism, and the appearance does change with the rotational axis i.e a football is elliptical on a horizontal view, but it will be round when seen from the ends.
C. mesnili would be half the size of T. vaginalis and its nucleus would be circular.
I have not seen T. vaginalis in a PAP smear, but on a Giemsa smear, the organism would show more morphology details.

Florida FanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-86814221427609471412015-03-11T09:34:28.349-05:002015-03-11T09:34:28.349-05:00Trichomonas vaginalis, in my opinion...Trichomonas vaginalis, in my opinion...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16002327257517983745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-66004102168611910792015-03-10T08:52:38.168-05:002015-03-10T08:52:38.168-05:00Trichomonas vaginalis would be the obvious answer ...Trichomonas vaginalis would be the obvious answer considering the source. Without being able to focus in and out to see the flagellum or the undulating membrane makes this difficult (but I think I can see both if I turn my imagination up ). The only thing that makes me nervous are the nuclei. They don’t look quite right to me, I think of T.vag as having more solidly colored nuclei, and these you can almost see a central karyosome and smooth peripheral chromatin more like an Entamoeba. But my vote is T.vag. To me these resemble trophozoites of Chilomastix mesnili, with the nucleus at one end, eccentric karyosomes, oval shape with some nice pointed specimens on picture 4, and small size. However this would be a very unusual presentation since C.mesnili is enteric and generally considered non-pathogenic. All this in mind, T.vaginalis is more likely but C.mesnili would be fascinating!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17464110570243620676noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-37885472413005439662015-03-09T07:33:56.225-05:002015-03-09T07:33:56.225-05:00I think Trichomonas vaginalis, I think I can see f...I think Trichomonas vaginalis, I think I can see faint flagella.

LeeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-2886695649441513622015-03-09T01:04:59.235-05:002015-03-09T01:04:59.235-05:00Trochomona VaginalisTrochomona VaginalisAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16903751824782377353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-76571334831740390292015-03-08T22:13:07.777-05:002015-03-08T22:13:07.777-05:00clue cellsclue cellsaubreynoellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05354420246927474390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-629132641307534690.post-33219112040286383202015-03-08T21:46:28.515-05:002015-03-08T21:46:28.515-05:00Size and morphology compatible with Trichomonas va...Size and morphology compatible with Trichomonas vaginalis.
