Taenia saginata

ReplyDeleteI concur Taenia spp, I remember the species are differentiated by the hook number in the ova but I can't remember which way round they are!

ReplyDeleteTo distinguish T.saginata (cow) from T.solium (pig) you must count the lateral branches of the "stem" or trunk.
T. saginata has 15 or more (as in this case)
The eggs of T.saginata and T solium are not distinguishable from eachother
ReplyDeleteTAnia saginata due to the presence of 12 or more uterine branches. Tania solium has fewer than 10.

ReplyDeleteTaenia saginata or T. asiatica (based on uterine branches) depending on where this gentlemen was from or on his travel history.
