Looks more like P. ovale to me, but this is uncommon outside West Africa. Thanks for sending these. They are fun for us clinicians who are not parasitologists Bill
I think that it's Plasmodium ovale. I'm a biologist interested in parasitology and this is a funny way to learn more about the parasites. I'm looking forward reading the answer and new case.

Schüffner's dots, infected cells are roughly the same size as uninfected cells: P. ovale.
