Case of the Week 253

The following images are taken from slides submitted to our surgical pathology consult service for identification.  The site was listed as "thigh" biopsy.  The associated gross description describes a tan firm object measuring 0.3 cm x 0.3 cm x 0.1 cm.

  2. My guess is that it could be a cysticercus with some parts suggestive of hooklets, but as usual "je ne sais rien".

  3. No, idea.

  4. My guess is that this is some sort of fly larva. This is mostly going off of the gross description. Also, the specimen appears to have been inked leading me to believe that it was surgically removed. Another case of myiasis perhaps?

  5. On second thought... the round structures appear to contain muscle fibers. Legs maybe? Could this be a tick?
