The following case was generously donated by Florida Fan. This object was seen while reading an iodine-stained fecal sediment at 400x (approximately 175 microns in diameter). Identification?
Definitely it's not a parasite, rather it looks like some plant trichome which somehow contaminated food. Compare it for example with Russian Silverberry trichomes (http://goo.gl/3yvkZ6).
Not like any parasite I am familiar with, maybe plant material?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a pretty flower..LOL! I would go with plant material as well!

I am used to see it in stool sometimes, but do not know, from which plant it comes. Hope that I will finally find out here.
ReplyDeletePollen of some sort is my guess.
ReplyDeleteAcetabularia?
