ReplyDeleteYes, the patient may experience anal pruritus or the worm may be observed crawling on the surface of the stool. The worm show the anterior alae and an empty caudal section. The middle part of the body is typically filled with ova.
ReplyDeleteEnterobius vermicularis is still with us as long as the ova are shared usually involuntarily.

Those egg-laden worms are definitely pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis). Each worm usually lays approximately 10 000 eggs per day and are best seen with the cellophane/scotch tape technique.
ReplyDeleteAccording to my predecessors: this is a gravid female of pinworm (Enterobius vermicularis)
ReplyDeleteEnterobius vermicularis adult female with eggs (gravid) - pin worm

ReplyDeleteInteresting Pinworm case. What would the likely cause be, being that the patient is so young?
