Happy Thanksgiving day to my American friends! Here's a question for your consideration: which parasites can you get from eating undercooked turkey (the centerpiece of the classic Thanksgiving day feast)? Here is one of them in a squash preparation of a brain biopsy. What is it?
Giemsa, 100x objective with oil
Transmission electron microscopy:
These appear to be tachyzoites of Toxoplasma gondii.
ReplyDeleteI think the same as Joe.

Agree with Joe, these are T. gondii tachyzoites, with it´s apical complex. Ultrastructurally are identifiable the conoids, and rhoptries of the tachyzoite. From undercooked turkey you can get probably Gnathostoma spp.
ReplyDeleteTachyzoites of Toxoplasma gondii.
ReplyDeletemmmmm, Toxo. . .
ReplyDeleteToxoplasma gondii trophozoite tachyzoite
ReplyDeleteFrom undercooked turkey ..... Trichinella pseudospiralis
ReplyDeleteVery nice case of Toxoplasmosis. Such a case is so rare that most of us would not recognize the infective agents.
ReplyDeleteThank you for an excellent educational posting.

ReplyDeleteI agree. Points for everyone.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading Bernardino's Thorough diagnosis I may have to go vegetarian this Thanksgiving day.
I agree with toxoplasmosis.
ReplyDeleteWonderful parasite and a perfect subject for after-dinner conversations!
