A parasitologist's view of the world
This week's case features small (~2 micrometer long), oval-shaped objects seen in a corneal scraping. Thanks to Heather for taking these beautiful images. The stain is strong trichrome (chromotrope 2R method).
What is the most likely diagnosis?
Microsporidia, but I'd not venture to guess the species.
Indeed, the size, shape and staining appearance are consistent with Microsporidia sp.Florida Fan
Not a parasite!Lol!Microsporidia indeed!Central band pushes me in that direction.
Microsporidial spores.
