Here is an unusual case for you. The following objects were seen in a bowel resection: (CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE). I'll give you a hint - the organisms look the same as they normally would, but they are not where you would expect them to be.
Tom is right - Toxocara LARVAE also have alae, as do several other nematode larvae. However, E. vermicularis is the only ADULT nematode with lateral alae. Also, the alae (aka wings) are most pronounced at the anterior end, but they can be seen at all levels of the organism in cross-section. Thanks for making these important points Tom!
