Case of the Week 326

Here is another great case from Dr. Orihel's collection at Tulane University.  No history, but the appearance is quite classic. Identification?

It looks like Cysticercus cellulosae.

Dipylidium caninum

The translucid appearance and size of these objects is consistent with the morphology of cysticerci of either T. solium or saginata.
I have seen D. caninum proglotids in the fresh stool of my dog but these are opaque white, almost identical in size and morphology to an uncooked rice grain but they rapidly become immobile and withdraw to about half the original length.

Truthfully, I remember having seen these somewhere. I looked through my available reference books and found the reference below:
Atlas of Human Parasitology, Ash & Orihel
ASCP 5th Ed., 2007 pg. 371, Plate 94
Image 1.
I referenced the size of the objects to the size of the fingers holding the jar: the width of a human finger is about 1/2 an inch or 12mm, the length of a knuckle 1 inch or 25mm.
