This month's case are the following objects seen in 3 different stains from a patient with sudden onset of profuse watery diarrhea and abdominal cramping:
Concentrated wet preparation with Lugol's iodine
Heine stain
Modified acid fast stain
What is your diagnosis?

So timely for the summer. People get out and eat. Little do they know Cyclospora cayetanensis is just awaiting. This serves as a wake up call for all of us.

Crypto. Too small for B coli.

once i read the symptoms of sudden porfuse watery diarrhea it pop up in my mind to be Cryptosporidium...but the staining and the size are not matching
Oocyst for Cyclospora.
I think that because of the size it could be Ciclospora cayetanensis. Long time since I have put foot in a laboratory, so I hope my memory serves me right.
