The following objects were seen on a peripheral blood film from a patient with chronic, worsening swelling in his groin over the past 5 years. He is from Central Africa. The stain is the Delafield's hematoxylin. Diagnosis?

Wuchereria bancrofti - sheathed, no nuclei at the tip

These are microfilariae of Wuchereria bancrofti: nice sheat, gentle curves, nuclei is a column that does not extend to the tip of the tail, short head space. Plus the anamnesis is consistent with a lymphatic filariasis. Nice pictures!
Beautiful rendition of the microfilaria. The nuclear column stops well short of the tail. The head space is short and the sheath is very prominent in the caudal section. Wuchereria bancrofti indeed.
